Principal, Consulting & Analytics
Emily Tischler, Principal, Consulting & Analytics at Norstella, has been with the company since October 2023. She has over a decade of experience in healthcare, specializing in management consulting and biotech. She excels in team leadership, project management, corporate strategy, and business development, with a passion for solving complex problems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Tell us a little bit more about your role.
I primarily work with biotech and non-biotech clients, including consulting firms, private equity companies, and financial institutions. My goal is to provide custom solutions that range from traditional management consulting services – like forecasting and market research – to more data-focused projects such as real-world data and custom dashboards.
How did you join the company? What in your background brought you to pharma?
I was initially drawn to the meaningful challenges in healthcare. While I briefly considered other paths like consumer products, they didn’t ignite the same passion as life sciences, so after earning my MBA, I decided to stay in the industry and have enjoyed it ever since.
I first heard about Norstella when a former colleague reached out about a role. After researching, I recognized its brands and was intrigued. It’s an exciting time to be part of Norstella’s growth, and having used its data as a consultant, I see a clear advantage in now working directly with the teams behind it, especially when educating clients.
What does your day-to-day usually look like?
My day is mostly spent on client calls and creating proposals, with about half my time dedicated to client interactions. I also work closely with account managers, the consulting delivery team, and product teams to ensure we meet client needs and present solutions to them.
With experience across various sectors—commercial, clinical, manufacturing, and private equity – I’ve built a strong foundation for this role, and I’m always learning something new. I spend around 15% of my time on delivery work, overseeing client meetings, and ensuring their key business questions are answered.
In short, I stay busy, but I’m never bored.
What are some of the larger projects you’re working on?
I’m currently working on large real-world data projects, partnering with professional services companies to support their needs or clients using data like open and closed claims, lab data, and EMR data. These partnerships can take months to establish and last anywhere from one to five years – so they’re a key focus of mine.
It’s interesting how things have come full circle. Early in my career, I received real-world data on hard drives, which would then have to be updated and mailed back. Now, with technology, everything is much more streamlined, making the process far easier and faster. The maturity of the data market today has made it much more sophisticated and efficient.
What trends are you seeing across the industry right now that Norstella is in a unique position to help with?
Norstella’s pipeline-to-patient approach is a major asset. Our deep expertise across clinical, commercial, and market access areas positions us well to meet the evolving needs of the life sciences industry.
Real-world data is a particularly important trend that Norstella is uniquely suited to address. As the market matures, companies are realizing the need to invest in real-world data to remain competitive. Norstella’s ability to integrate real-world data with our other assets makes us a valuable partner for clients looking to stay ahead.
Where do you see Norstella in the next year or two?
I see us continuing to grow, particularly with the variety of resources we have and our expanding impact in the real-world data market. I’m excited to watch people increasingly recognize the Norstella name, not just for its individual brands, but for the full range of services we offer under the Norstella umbrella.
Our companies are best in class on their own, and I believe more people will start to see the true value of how Norstella integrates them into a comprehensive offering.
What do you like most about working at Norstella?
I enjoy the variety in my role, which is a perfect fit. Although I’m often a sole contributor, I interact with great people across the organization daily, making me feel like part of a team, even in different departments.
The people I work with are critical to why I enjoy my day. I’m constantly learning new things about Norstella and the industry, and every day brings something different, which keeps the job exciting and engaging.
What do you like to do outside of work?
My husband and I are big Formula One fans and love following the races, which is always fun to share with my UK colleagues. I also enjoy glassblowing, a creative outlet that I’m passionate about. It’s the one hobby where I’ve allowed myself to fail and still find joy, especially when working on larger pieces – it’s almost like a team sport.
I also love spending time with my dog, Meatball, and my husband, Zach. We’re expecting our first child soon, so family is becoming a bigger focus as we prepare for this exciting new chapter. Between our hobbies and the baby on the way, life outside work is busy and fulfilling!
We’re looking for agile, growth-oriented team players who are passionate about client success and helping clients bring life-saving therapies to market quicker—and help patients in need.
